Splash Pad Update

Dear Parents,

My name is Joan Mohr and I am the President of the Fitchburg Optimist Club. Our club is leading the building of the Fitchburg Splash Pad at McKee Farms Park. Some of you may have noticed that the construction for the splash pad is underway. It will be a great facility for families in Fitchburg. Kids of all abilities will be able to enjoy it. Our splash pad is a recirculation splash pad. Water is recycled. This splash pad is a farm theme facility. The barn will house the mechanicals and also the restrooms. Some of the jets that will give it a farm theme are the water windmill (in the center of the splash pad), a sprinkle tractor, a hen, a rooster, horse cannons, dumping milk cans, a group of jets that will look like a silo, a sunflower, and the list goes on. There will be a split rail fence around the splash pad.

I am writing to you to let you know that we have raised $700,000 to date for the splash pad. But we are still short of funds. We need to raise another $100,000 for the jets and the endowment fund. This fund will pay for yearly maintenance on the pad. You can support the splash pad in the following ways:

  • Buy a brick, a water jet, a bench, a shade structure or donate cash.
  • Cash donations of $1,000 or more will be listed on our big donor board at the splash pad.

Please be a part of this great project for your community. Together we can do great things for kids. Please pass this information on to others you think would like to be involved with this project. You may reach me by phone: 608-843-7166 or email: joaniemohr@gmail.com;
